Research stays private.
Backups stay encrypted.

Permission, explained

Only the Drive access the backup needs.

The local utility uses an owner-controlled Google OAuth Desktop client. It requests drive.file to create and manage its encrypted backup repository files, including reading them back for verification and recovery.

This scope permits access to files created by the app or explicitly opened or shared with it. It does not grant access to every file in Google Drive. In this backup workflow, the utility works with files and folders it creates.
